Ramblers Prepare for Showdown Against Wildcats

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago looks to extend its winning streak to three games as they travel to face Davidson on Tuesday night. The matchup tips off at 6 p.m. CT, with Loyola coming off a strong 2-0 week while Davidson aims to bounce back from a recent loss.

Loyola's Recent Success
- The Ramblers secured back-to-back victories over Richmond and Saint Louis, winning 87-80 in overtime against the Spiders and following up with a 78-69 victory over the Billikens.
- Jayden Dawson earned A-10 Player of the Week honors after an outstanding performance in both games. He averaged 25 points per game, shooting 53.3% from the field, 54.4% from three, and was perfect from the free-throw line.
- Dawson also contributed 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 0.5 steals per game. This marks the first A-10 weekly honor for Loyola this season and the first of Dawson’s career.
- Dawson matched his career-high with 26 points against Saint Louis, hitting 10 of 16 shots, including six three-pointers, and adding three blocks.
- Sheldon Edwards Jr. posted 17 points, while Des Watson added 14.
- Miles Rubin recorded his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, along with a career-high six assists and four blocks.
- At Richmond, Dawson led all scorers with 24 points, making another six three-pointers. This was his fourth 20-point game of the season.
- Edwards Jr. was clutch in overtime, making all four of his three-point attempts to secure the win. He finished with 21 points, hitting 7 of 16 from beyond the arc.
- Des Watson added 19 points, including a late-game scoring burst with three three-pointers and a jumper inside, finishing 7-14 from the field.
- Edwards Jr. has moved up to fourth on Loyola’s single-season list for three-pointers made, hitting 11 total last week, bringing his season tally to 74.
- Nationally, Edwards Jr. ranks 45th in three-pointers made (74), 37th in three-pointers per game (2.96), 63rd in three-point percentage (39.6%), and 57th in three-point attempts (187).
- Head coach Drew Valentine, now in his fourth season, has compiled a 74-48 overall record leading the Ramblers.
Scouting Davidson
- The Wildcats enter the matchup with a 15-10 overall record and a 5-7 mark in A-10 play.
- Davidson boasts an 11-3 home record but recently suffered a 74-67 loss to George Washington.
- The Wildcats excel in ball control, leading the A-10 and ranking 14th nationally with just 9.5 turnovers per game. Their 1.63 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 12th in the NCAA.
- Reed Bailey leads the team and the A-10 in scoring, averaging 19.9 points per game, ranking 32nd nationally. He is currently on a 12-game double-figure scoring streak, including two 30-point performances.
- Bailey’s standout games include a 32-point effort at Richmond and a 30-point, 11-rebound double-double against Rhode Island.
- Davidson is coached by Matt McKillop, who is in his third season and has a 46-43 career record.
