Biden Aide Accuses White House of "Gaslighting" Over Health Concerns
Former Press Secretary Michael LaRosa Speaks Out
A former senior White House aide, Michael LaRosa, publicly criticized the Biden administration for allegedly “gaslighting” Americans regarding concerns over President Joe Biden's health. LaRosa, who served as press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden, told Puck News that many within the White House were in denial about Biden’s mental and physical limitations.
Denial of Polling Data and Support
LaRosa revealed that the White House consistently ignored polling data that showed a lack of support for President Biden within his own party. Despite mounting evidence in 2023 indicating that Biden was struggling to garner broad support, the administration dismissed these concerns as inconsequential.
“The polling in the spring and fall of 2023 showed no real depth of support from his own party, let alone independents and Republicans,” LaRosa said. “There was a lot of denial about the polling.”
The Bidens’ Dismissal of Concerns
According to LaRosa, one of the main issues within the White House was the Bidens' reaction to media and Democratic doubts about the president’s ability to complete a second term. Every time questions arose about Biden’s age or whether he should run again, LaRosa claimed the Bidens simply “doubled down.”
Concerns Over Unscripted Appearances
LaRosa also emphasized that the Bidens' team was extremely wary of unscripted moments for President Biden. “Biden needed the press, but when he needed the press the most, they didn’t trust him,” he said, noting the president’s difficulty in handling impromptu, unrehearsed appearances.
