WWE Releases Blair Davenport Amid Latest Round of Talent Cuts
WWE has reportedly begun another wave of mass talent cuts, with Blair Davenport being among the latest names released. According to PWInsider and Fightful, Davenport is the newest wrestler to part ways with the company.
Davenport’s Brief WWE Main Roster Run
If the reports are accurate, Blair Davenport’s WWE tenure has come to an abrupt end, less than a year after her promotion to the main roster from "WWE NXT" in April 2024. Fightful Select notes that there were no creative plans for her following her call-up, which aligns with her limited TV appearances.
Davenport competed in just five "SmackDown" matches, securing only one victory in a brief feud against Naomi. Her last WWE match occurred on November 22, 2024, when she was eliminated in the first round of the Women's United States Championship tournament after losing to the eventual winner, Chelsea Green. She also made a single appearance on "WWE Speed" but was otherwise underutilized.
A Return to the Independent Scene?
Before joining WWE, Davenport had a successful run on the independent circuit, particularly in World Wonder Ring STARDOM. With her release, she is expected to draw global interest as a free agent, according to Fightful.
Davenport recently married WWE NXT star Riley Osbourne and was spotted backstage at TNA Emergence, fueling speculation about her next move in professional wrestling.
More WWE Releases
Davenport joins a growing list of WWE stars recently cut from the company, including:
- Sonya Deville
- Authors of Pain & Paul Ellering
- Cedric Alexander
- Duke Hudson
Additionally, her release adds to the growing trend of NXT call-ups from the 2024 WWE Draft who either never received opportunities or were let go shortly after their promotions. Other notable names in this group include:
- Baron Corbin
- Indi Hartwell
- Tegan Nox
- Dijak
- Odyssey Jones
- Kiana James
With WWE continuing to reshape its roster, it remains to be seen where Davenport will land next. Given her proven skills and international reputation, it’s likely fans won’t have to wait long before she resurfaces in the wrestling world.
