Trump Warns Iran: ‘Complete Destruction’ if Provoked
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has heightened tensions with Iran by reinstating his maximum pressure strategy. He issued a stern warning that any assassination attempt against him or U.S. officials would lead to Iran’s total destruction.
"If They Proceed, They Will Be Annihilated"
During a recent event, Trump made it clear that any Iranian plot on his life would trigger a devastating response.
"That would be a grave mistake on their part, not for my sake. If they were to do that, they would be annihilated. That would mark the end for them. I've given directives—if they act, they will be annihilated. There will be nothing remaining," Trump stated.
His remarks follow reports of an Iranian assassination plot against him that was allegedly foiled in September of last year. Given Iran’s history of targeting high-profile figures, Trump is emphasizing that any such move would provoke overwhelming military retaliation.
Biden Criticized for Weak Stance on Iran
Trump also took the opportunity to criticize current U.S. President Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to send a strong deterrent message to Iran.
"Biden should have articulated that, but he failed to do so. I can't explain why—perhaps a lack of insight. But he never addressed it," Trump said.
He argued that Biden’s leniency has emboldened Iran and its proxies, increasing threats against the U.S. and its allies.
The Return of Trump’s Maximum Pressure Strategy
Trump’s recent statements signal a revival of his maximum pressure strategy, which was a key aspect of his presidency. By reaffirming a hardline stance, he aims to deter Iran from engaging in hostile actions against American interests.
