In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Sonakshi spoke about the significance of The Special Marriage Act and how it allowed her and Zaheer to preserve their individual religious identities.

“Zaheer and I weren’t even looking at religion. Here are two people in love who want to get married, and we are getting married. He is not enforcing his religion on me, and I’m not enforcing my religion on him,” she stated.

When asked if the topic of religious conversion ever came up in their relationship, Sonakshi revealed, “The topic never even came up. It never happened.” She explained how both families respect and embrace each other’s traditions, adding, “He comes and sits in my Diwali puja, and I go and sit in their Niyaaz. That’s all that matters, right?”

Sonakshi highlighted the importance of mutual respect in relationships, stating that the Special Marriage Act was the best option for them.

“As a Hindu woman, I do not need to change my religion, and he, as a Muslim man, can remain a Muslim. Two people in love can share a beautiful bond of marriage. It was as simple as that. There was never a question like, ‘Are you going to convert?’” she explained.
